In 2019, Birth in Color led the bill for doula reimbursement in Virginia. Since our 2018 founding, Birth in Color has trained 150 doulas and supported over 2,700 families through the colorful journey of parenthood.

  • Birth Worker

    A Birth Worker empowers an expectant parent to make birth choices that align with their wishes. Birth Workers help by protecting your experience and advocating for your birth plan. Birth Worker support has been linked to better parenting and higher satisfaction with the outcome of the birth in general. If you are interested in additional emotional, physical, and logistical support during childbirth, a Birth Worker might be right for you!

  • Postpartum Birth Worker

    A Birth Worker is a “woman caregiver”: someone who is experienced and trained to help the new mother and family. This service provides knowledgeable, caring, and personal support during those stressful first few weeks as new parents.

  • Abortion Doulas

    Birth in Color can offer support to you during any part of your reproductive health journey. If you are seeking an abortion and would like to be supported by a doula, please contact us using the request form below.

  • Lactation Consultant

    Our in-home lactation consultants work with you to develop a personalized plan for care and get all of your lactation questions answered. During our sessions, we will review your history and birth story, address any questions and provide support during feeding.

  • Hypnobirthing

    Mongan Method HypnoBirthing® is as much a philosophy as it is a technique. The method teaches you that, in the absence of fear and tension, or special medical circumstances, severe pain does not have to accompany labor.

  • Nutrition Counseling

    Every mama-to-be wants the best for their growing baby, but sometimes it can be hard to find reliable information on nutritional needs from a holistic perspective.

  • Prenatal Massage

    Prenatal massage balances your body and calms your mind. It helps you prepare for the birth you want and postpartum recovery. And research hints that it’s good for baby, too.

  • Mama & Bebe

    Join us each month as we create a safe space for mothers to feel listened to and nurtured, to practice compassion and to build a network of support and connection. Our Circle is open to mothers of color of all motherhood experiences and spiritual practices. We will discuss various of topics , such as attachment parenting, natural living, co-sleeping, breastfeeding and all matters of mothering.

  • Infant CPR

    This class meets the requirements for the CPR and First Aid by American Red Cross and provides you with a 2 Year Certification – Same Day Certification Card! Recommended for: Preschools, Daycare, Child Care Workers, Parents, School Bus drivers and Babysitters.

  • Racial Bias Training

    Are you a medical facility that wants to become more diverse? Are you a medical provider that wants to connect with you client but not sure how? Would you like to become more educated on implicit bias? Then this is the class for you!

  • Diapers & Baby Items

    Birth In Color has always put community’s voice in the forefront of our mission. We seek to always create programs that the community ask for. This program provides diapers and baby items for those that are in need.

  • Postpartum Yoni Steam

    This blend has been found to reduce postpartum depression, promote the production of mother’s milk for the infant’s benefit, increase circulation, and eases the after-pains of childbirth. It can also can assist in healing vaginal atrophy and infections.
